X-Men Gay Wedding: Northstar to Marry Boyfriend
Marvel comics confirmed yesterday that Northstar, former mutant member of Alpha Flight and current X-Man, will be marrying his boyfriend Kyle in the June issue of Astonishing X-Men #51. This decision follows on last year’s gay wedding of Kevin Keller to his boyfriend in Archie comics’ Life with Archie, which helped boost sales for that company.Northstar was the first character to come out at Marvel comics and the most well-known, though there have been several openly gay characters since then. While the X-Men are currently based in San Francisco, Northstar is a French-Canadian hero; no word if he’ll be married in Canada or in the gayest US city of them all.
No one can understand how much I will be SO PISSED if he doesn’t marry in Canada. The dude’s a separatist, nationalist Québécois to the core. Marrying in the US is just not something he’d do. Ugh.
But yes, this is nice. I hope the wedding doesn’t get crashed by some super villain — oh wait are there weddings that don’t get crashed by villains in comics sometimes?
